I've been trying to get my DesktopX 3 Application installed back onto my system along with Stardock Central and I get an error message "not a calid Win32 application" what could be the cause of this and how do I fix it.

How are you installing and at what point do you get the message?

Do you have SD Central installed?
Did you enter your DTX serial (register)?
Are you restoring an archive?

No, I've had to format my harddrive and am trying to re-install my applications. I am downloading DX3 from the download link from my Stardock e-mail. Stardock Central directly from Stardock. In both instances I get not a valid win32 application when I click to open the setup files.

Is this the SDC link?

I know they've had server issues, maybe it corrupted?

I've always had decent luck downloading the apps through SDC and letting SDC install them.

That would be great but I can't get SDC to install either. It says not a valid win32 application.

are you using a download manager?

C'mon Dami...you can do it!

Okay, I'm pretty sure this has something to do with the dial-up internet connection I'm using. At some point the download is being interrupted and I'm not getting the entire file. No, tried on several more occasions and all with the same result. No Stardock Central and no DesktopX. I'm thinking I may just go to my Sister's house (who has Broadband) and load it onto my jump drive. I'll let you know how that goes.

Thanks for all your help. Hey Boss!!! Thanks for the encouragement.

Okay, Sir Bichur, I changed from netscape internet service to another service (E-Sage) and was able to download Stardock Central and install it!!!!! Yay!!!! DesktopX keeps giving me an error message at some point during the download about the file cannot be saved because the source cannot be read. Or some such thing. But, never fear I will persist.

I went to my the library today with my trusty jump drive and downloaded the program and installed it when I got home. I sure did aggravate myself over this. As I expected, though, I could not register it with Stardock Central because it is DesktopX 3.0 Run-Time Client. For some reason this particular edition of DesktopX is not able to register or update with Stardock Central. If anyone could help answer why this is true I would appreciate it.

I could not register it with Stardock Central because it is DesktopX 3.0 Run-Time Client.

i find desktopx in my list for registering (but I see no differentiation between types except DesktopX and DTX Professional.

what steps are being taken to register?
what message do you receive?

Thank you for asking Sir Bichur!!! It says word for word, "the serial number you have entered is invalid. Please ensure the information you have entered matches exactly from your order email. Use the serial number lookup button to resend your account information to the email address you ordered under."

Before you ask...I copied and pasted the number and did not allow any extra spaces to get copied with it. It is exactly the number I was sent. If you could find out the reason for this I would appreciate it.

did you use the same email address you purchased with?
